Murfreesboro, Tennessee — May 11, 2018 — The Nashville Predators Foundation has awarded the Business Education Partnership a grant of more than $6,800 to fund BEP’s STEMEx Camp, scheduled for June 11-15.
STEMEx is a tuition-free summer day camp that introduces middle school students to career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math. STEMEx includes tours within Rutherford County industry and businesses that utilize STEM skills, interactive discussions with STEM professionals, and opportunities to participate in hands-on STEM learning activities.
Predators Senior Director of Community Relations Rebecca King said, “The Nashville Predators Foundation is proud to support Business Education Partnership Foundation of Rutherford County. After watching this camp in action on MTSU’s campus we knew it was something that we wanted to continue to support. What we witnessed these students learning and achieving was impressive and we are happy to align ourselves with this nonprofit.”
BEP Executive Director Amelia Bozeman said, “The Nashville Predators are an outstanding team on and off the ice, and they are a tremendous force for good in our community. Their support enables us to offer our BEP STEMEx Camp tuition-free, so that students can learn about STEM careers regardless of their families’ financial circumstances.”
The Business Education Partnership (BEP) Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization formed in 1988 with the help of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce. BEP’s vision is that students need to witness tangible, material examples of the principles discussed in classroom lessons, a.k.a. “real world experience” in order to better comprehend those concepts and prepare for the workforce.
