January 11, 2019

For Immediate Release
Murfreesboro, Tennessee -- Registration is now open for BEP’s Camp M.D. Presented by Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital, scheduled for June 17-21.
BEP’s Camp M.D. Presented by Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital is a tuition-free summer day camp that introduces students to healthcare careers through interaction with the medical community. Camp M.D. includes tours of local medical facilities, and discussions with healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, medical assistants, lab technologists, researchers, and therapists. Student tours will be complemented by off-site activities designed to provide valuable information that will enable students to pursue the education necessary for careers in all levels of healthcare.
Gordon Ferguson, president and CEO of Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital and president of Saint Thomas Regional Hospitals, expressed his support of BEP’s initiative: “Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital is excited to once again join the BEP Foundation in offering Camp M.D. We had great feedback from those middle school students who attended this learning experience last summer. Our hope is to open the eyes and minds of our young generation to the various career paths that lead to employment within our vast health care system,” he said.
Rising sixth through eighth grade students from Rutherford County are eligible to apply for the camp; however, camp space is limited. Applications are due by March 1st, and they are available at rutherfordbep.org/camp-md.
